Learning Goal Details

My learning goal is to learn how to turn printed text into speech for the blind. I plan to learn how programming and engineering can be used to help people with visual disabilities by making a text-to-speech device (without a screen, to be more convenient for the visually impaired). With learning how to program and engineer a text-to-speech device, I will not only be able to help the blind who did not have the opportunity to experience books or reading, but I would also have learnt how to code and engineer a complex device along the way, adding to my current knowledge on the basics of coding and engineering.

Product Goal Details

My product goal is to program and engineer a text-to-speech device. This device will use programming and several components to help those who cannot see written text. This is achieved by creating a compact case with an accurate camera as well as a clear sounding speaker, connected to a fast and reliable micro-pc, which will be programmed to read aloud any text it is pointed at. There is no screen included on the device, there will only be convenient buttons with braille molded on them in order to assist the visually impaired in listening to written text such as books or documents.
